TESTIMONIALS

RELATABLE TO THE PEOPLE OF OUR GENERATION

We could feel the emotion throughout the performance as it was very relatable to the people of our generation. We thank you for accurately showing that side of what we, as teenagers, fight through on an everyday basis and showing us other sides of teenage stories.

SO TOUCHING AND CLOSE TO HOME

As an audience member, I have never experienced a performance so touching and close to home, every story was so moving and the way it was crafted was truly breathtaking and emotionally touching. Definitely, an experience I will remember for life and I thank Sam and Hayden with all my heart.

SIGNATURE SHOCK THERAPY LEVEL OF ENERGY AND TALENT

Shock Therapy has always brought engaging, stimulating theatre of the highest quality into schools, but their recent foray into writing their own shows – 2020’s Undertow and now with their brand-new offering Fuel – has seen this company take things to the next level. Our Grade 10s and 11s could not look away from Fuel and were spellbound from the opening. The two performers came with the now signature Shock Therapy level of energy and talent in physicality and multiple role-playing, but it was the nature of the show itself that really held their attention.

Given recent headlines focused on the MeToo movement, Queensland’s criminalisation of coercive control and the Depp/Heard deformation trial, not to mention Australia’s continuing issues with domestic violence, toxic masculinity and coercive relationships, Fuel could not have come at a better time. Shock Therapy handles the sensitive and potentially confronting subject matter deftly and gracefully, and the inclusion of support materials and ways to reach out for help being included on a QR code at the end of the show is evidence of how thoughtfully and seriously they have approached this work.

The show is a must see especially for our young men, as we strive to foster empathy and responsibility in our young people, while “un-teaching” gender stereotypes and ensuring they are exposed to the reality of the damage that their actions could cause. Perfectly poised to challenge, entertain, and engage grades 10-12, with clear links to senior syllabus work, Shock Therapy’s Fuel could help change the future today.

EAGER YEAR 7, 8 AND 9 DRAMA EXCELLENCE STUDENTS AMAZED AND HUMBLED

Shock Therapy performed their show The Apology to a large crowd of eager Year 7, 8 and 9 Drama Excellence students. This show was incredibly impactful as it engaged the students with the high energy levels of the actors as they changed from character to character to tell the insightful story of how bullying can effect not just the victim and bully, but have a ripple effect on everyone. The students were amazed and humbled at the chance to engage with such a professional production that had an educational message. Thank you Shock Therapy Productions for this experience.
