SHOCK LAB is a new Masterclass series presented by Shock Therapy Arts which will give performers the opportunity to train, keep their tools sharp, and be exposed to different performance methodologies. These masterclasses will provide high level training to Gold Coast and Southeast QLD based artists.

These 8 one-off events will be intimate and in-depth, with each guest teaching artist hand-picked for their unique knowledge. Across the 8 planned events in 2025, the content will cover a diverse breadth of techniques and styles. As performers, we rarely get the opportunity to train with someone who is outside of our genre, but we believe it is important in order to “collect” new techniques to fold into ones’ own practice.

Each Masterclass will focus on a different performance style including:

• The Shock Therapy Way

• Comedic Acting

• Political Theatre and Devising

• Shakespeare and Voice

• Putting your story on stage

• Movement for actors

• Holistic wellbeing and self care for artists

• Performance Art

SHOCK LAB will provide enriching learning and training opportunities to emerging and established Gold Coast and South East QLD based performers and performance makers and are designed for senior secondary students through to established professionals.

Masterclasses will commence in June 2025 and will run through to December 2025. The masterclasses will be held at our home base in the Broadbeach Community Space.

Bookings for these masterclasses are strictly limited and will open in May 2025.
